GOD’S LOVE IS FOREVER
Scripture: Psalm 136:1
Season/Sunday: Any
Focus: God’s love is forever.
Experience: The children will catch bubbles and try to save them.
Arrangements: You will need a bottle of bubbles. Consider purchasing bubbles to send home with the children, with a kind warning not to open them in church.
Leader: | (Hold up the bottle of bubbles.) Here’s something fun! What are these? |
Children: | Bubbles! |
Leader: | I know you are all very clever and very good at catching things. I’m going to blow bubbles. I want each of you to catch one. (Blow lots of bubbles.) |
Children: | I got one! Here’s one! I have two! |
Leader: | Good work! Now I’m going to blow bubbles again. This time I want you each to catch a bubble and save it. (Blow more bubbles. Pause for a few seconds after you stop blowing bubbles.) Now show me your bubbles. (If children still have bubbles left, admire them. Wait a few more seconds until all the bubbles pop.) Does anyone have a bubble left? |
Children: | No! |
Leader: | Bubbles are beautiful, but they last for just a moment or two. There’s only one thing that lasts forever. The Bible says to give thanks to the Lord, “for God’s steadfast love will last forever” (author paraphrase). Let’s say together, “God’s love lasts forever!” |
All: | God’s love lasts forever! |
Leader: | We can have a bubble for just a little while, but . . . |
All: | God’s love lasts forever! |
Leader: | Flowers fade and tadpoles turn into frogs, but . . . |
All: | God’s love lasts forever! |
Leader: | Toys get broken and sometimes even the things we love the most on this earth get taken from us, but . . . |
All: | God’s love lasts forever! |
Leader: | Let’s say a prayer celebrating God and God’s forever love. (Prayer) |
